Solar Water Heater

A solar water heater can be a great way to save money on your monthly energy bills. Their only requirement is an adequate supply of sunlight and they can provide for all of your hot water needs. These systems can be purchased through numerous online sources, as well as from local businesses.

A solar water heater uses a combination of solar collectors and storage containers to maintain a plentiful hot water supply. These heaters can generally be put into one of two categories; active (which uses a series of pumps and electronic controls) and passive (which do not). Both can be used quite effectively.

A solar water heater can use a single, or multiple storage tanks. On a multi-tank system, the water is preheated in the solar heater before being stored in a conventional water heater tank. On single tank systems, a back-up heater is incorporated into the storage tank.
