Wind Turbine
A wind turbine can be a great way to produce free electricity. They are commonly used to create wind farms, which are capable of produce massive amounts of energy. However, recently there have been a few companies that have designed turbines for residential applications.
A wind turbine is a machine that harnesses energy from the wind by means of a rotating propeller and a generator. As the wind blows past the blades of the propeller it causes them to spin. They in turn spin the main shaft of a generator, thus creating electricity.
The problem with using a wind turbine for a residence is that they have often required large towers in order to catch wind of the appropriate speed. These towers were usually considered an eye sore, relegating them to more rural environments. There have been several companies in recent years that have found ways to solve this problem to an extent.
